Microplastic Fragments
10-100 µm | 100-500 µm | 0.5-1.0 mm
We produce an array of micro-fragments, available in various sizes, colors, and polymer compositions. Our fragments are produced by cryogenic milling to closely resemble real environmental microplastics. Our colored fragments are derived from specially dyed plastics that retain their vivid hues even at the microscopic level, rendering them perfect for microplastic research and experiments.

Cryomilling and sieving
Environmentally relevant fragments in individual size groups
Environmental microplastics are heterogenous in size and shape. In concordance with the latest recommendations on reference microplastic manufacturing, our fragments are produced in-house, from cryogenic grinding or 'cryomilling'.
This process not only ensures consistent fragmentation but also insures that the polymer glass transition temperature is not surpassed. The particles are sieved and sorted into size groups i.e. 10-100 µm, 100-500 µm and 500-1000 µm. The fragmentation process creates a natural particle size disitribtuion where smaller microplastics are more abundant.

Fragment source material
Pellets, granules, filaments, rods & tubes
Our fragments are produced by cryomilling early-stage plastic products, such as pellets, granules, filaments, rods, or tubes. As these materials are also used in the manufacture of everyday plastic items, the resulting microplastic fragments are not guaranteed to be additive-free and may contain plastic-associated chemicals (PACs). However, by deliberately selecting early-stage source materials, we aim to enhance the environmental realism of the reference material; truly additive-free plastics are unlikely to occur in the natural environment. Further details on the specific source materials used are available upon request.
Dry, neat (powder) format

Fragments from 10 to 1000 µm are also availabe in powder format
Similar to EasyMP™, each sample is accompanied by a unique COA providing number and size distribution of fragments per milligram (mg) with a maximum relative standard deviation (RSD) of 20%. Discover more about the sample preparation process for our microplastic powders by clicking here.
