SBR is commonly used as a proxy in the detection of tire wear particles, and is finally available to researchers, in known quantities.
Styrene butadiene rubber (SBR) is synthetic rubber and is a common ingredient in the production of car tires, shoe soles, and various industrial rubber products. Developed during World War II as a substitute for natural rubber, SBR quickly became one of the most widely used synthetic rubbers due to its durability and cost-effectiveness.
We’re now offering SBR fragments in our webshop in three size ranges: 10–100 µm, 100–500 µm, and 0.5–1.0 mm. Currently, they are available in a clear color option only; ideal for spiking experiments, recovery tests, or method development involving elastomeric microplastics.
